innovative & responsible
mask republic is a non-profit initiative who have developed a new model of washable and reusable face mask, whilst creating work for independent sewers in the Vienna area.
Our masks integrate special meltblown fabrics, donated to the project by leading plastics raw material producer, Borealis. The filter enables up to 4 times higher filtration rates than regular self-made fabric face masks.
For every 3 masks sold, we will donate 1 mask to those who need it most in our communities.
Masks for the people

high-tech filtration
Our masks come with an integrated meltblown fabric developed together with Borealis, a leading provider of innovative plastics solutions. Due to meltblown layer providing excellent filtration properties, our masks are now up to four times more effective than regular fabric masks in filtrating 0,3µm particles.

washable & comfortable
Our masks are washable and reusable. Washing your mask does not effect filtration effectiveness. We use high-quality, light cotton fabric by leading Austrian producer Getzner. Our soft natural elastics go around your head and neck for more comfort.

3 masks sold = 1 mask donated
This is a non-profit project led by paper republic. All our masks are produced by independent sewers in Vienna. For every 3 masks that you buy, we donate 1 for free to professionals from the health sector and charities

Our story
At first sight, the two companies behind mask republic seem to have very little in common: paper republic, a young online stationery brand and Borealis, a leading plastics producer.
Yet, these extraordinary times have brought us together. Within a very short time span, Borealis has developed special meltblown fabrics on their unique pilot line in Linz which are suitable for personal protective equipment, primarily for mouth-nose masks, but also high-end masks for medical professionals. These are provided to mask republic free of charge to support the non profit model.
paper republic designed the masks and organized the mask manufacturing together with independent sewers.
The result is a world-premiere: a reusable, washable fabric face-mask with an integrated filter that provides an effective alternative to self-made fabric face masks. Our masks are not designed to be an alternative to surgical/medical masks or FFP2 masks, but a more effective mask for daily use.
